THE FULL RANGE, FROM SIENNA TO STELLA

Shimano

Shimano has been making fishing tackle since 1970, and the reason so many Perth setups have a Shimano reel on them is simple: they keep working. Cold-forged HAGANE gears, X-Ship, X-Protect sealing and Infinity Drive are the technologies under the hood, from an entry Sienna to a 30kg-drag Stella SW.

Compleat Angler Nedlands stocks the full Shimano range: 83 reels, 86 rods including the Australian-designed Raider, T-Curve, Jewel and Revolution series, plus lures, squid jigs, line, tools, storage and apparel. Browse by category below, or bring your rod in and we'll match a reel to it.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Stella and Stella SW?

Stella FK is Shimano's flagship finesse reel for freshwater and light inshore work, in sizes 1000 to C5000. Stella SW is the heavy saltwater chassis, in sizes 4000 to 30000, with drag up to 30kg on the biggest models. They share a name but are built for very different fishing.

Which Shimano reel is best for bream and whiting in the Swan River?

A 1000 to 2500 size Vanford, Stradic, Sustain or Vanquish is the sweet spot. Vanford is the lightest at the price, Stradic is the proven workhorse, and Vanquish and Stella FK are the top of the tree if you want the lightest possible reel on a 1–3kg rod.

Which Shimano reel for offshore jigging and popping in WA?

For jigging, the Ocea Jigger overhead or a Twinpower SW and Stella SW spin reel in 8000 to 14000. For casting at samsonfish, tuna and GTs, a Saragosa SW, Twinpower SW or Stella SW in 14000 to 18000. Talica and Tiagra are the lever drag game reels for trolling and deep drop.

Are Shimano rods made in Australia?

Shimano rods like the Raider, T-Curve, Jewel, Revolution, Backbone and Anthem SW are designed in Australia by Australian anglers for local species, then manufactured overseas. The JDM series such as Zodias, Grappler, Dialuna and Ocea Plugger are Japanese designs hand-picked for the Australian market.

Do you stock Shimano spare spools and handles?

Yes. We carry genuine Shimano spare spools, handles and knobs for the popular reels, plus the Beastmaster and Forcemaster electrics, power cables and reel covers. If we don't have the part on the shelf, we can order it through Shimano Australia.
