What backpack for rock fishing?
Waterproof/water-resistant, comfortable padded straps, multiple rod holders, and space for tackle, spare leaders, tools, and safety gear. HPA and Assassin make excellent rock fishing packs.
How much should a fishing backpack carry?
25-40L is ideal for a day session. Large enough for a tackle box, spare leader, tools, snacks, and water — but not so heavy it's dangerous on rocks. Keep weight manageable.
Are waterproof fishing backpacks necessary?
For rock fishing and kayak fishing, water-resistance is essential — waves and spray are inevitable. For general land-based, it's nice to have but not critical. HPA makes fully waterproof packs.
Can I fit a tackle box inside a fishing backpack?
Yes — most fishing backpacks are designed to fit standard tackle boxes (Meiho 3010/3020 size) plus additional loose gear. Check internal dimensions against your box before buying.
