What is a wind-on leader?

A leader with a spliced loop that winds smoothly through rod guides onto the reel — letting you bring the entire leader onto the spool when fighting fish for more control at the boat.

When to use wind-on leaders?

Game fishing, trolling, live-baiting — any situation where having leader on the reel helps landing fish without a trace man. Standard for marlin, tuna, and other game species.

What length wind-on?

4-8 metres (15-25ft) standard. Longer leaders give fish less chance of seeing main line.

Can I make my own?

Yes — need hollow-core braid and splicing needle. But pre-made from Black Pete and Angler Tackle are consistently reliable and save time.
