When do I need crimps?
For wire trace construction, heavy game leaders (80lb+), and any connection where knots aren't practical. Crimps are the standard joining method for wire and heavy mono.
What size crimp do I need?
Match crimp inner diameter to your wire/leader diameter. Too big and it won't hold; too small and it damages the wire. AFW has clear sizing charts for their sleeves.
Single vs double barrel crimps?
Double barrel (oval) crimps are stronger and more reliable — they crimp evenly from both sides. Single barrel works for lighter applications. Use double barrel for anything critical.
Do I need a crimping tool?
Yes — hand-crimping (with pliers) is unreliable and can crack or under-crimp. A proper crimping tool ensures consistent, strong crimps. We stock quality crimping tools in-store.
