Do I need a separate GPS for my boat?
Modern chartplotters combine GPS with sounder. But a separate handheld GPS or PLB (Personal Locator Beacon) is essential safety backup for offshore fishing.
What's the difference between Navionics and C-MAP?
Both are electronic charting systems with Australian coverage. Navionics is popular with recreational anglers (community-edited charts). C-MAP is used in many Simrad/Lowrance units. Both work well for WA waters.
Do I need an EPIRB?
If you go offshore, an EPIRB or PLB is essential — it's your emergency lifeline if something goes wrong. GME makes quality Australian-designed emergency beacons. Don't go offshore without one.
What safety equipment for offshore fishing?
EPIRB/PLB, VHF radio, flares, life jackets, first aid kit, and navigation lights. Check WA DoT requirements for your vessel size and distance from shore.
