When do I need wire trace?
Spanish mackerel, wahoo, sharks, barracuda — any species with teeth that cut mono/fluoro. Essential for mackerel trolling off Perth.
Single-strand vs multi-strand wire?
Single-strand: stiffer, kink-resistant, thinner for strength — good for trolling. Multi-strand: more flexible, easier to crimp but can kink.
Wire for Spanish mackerel?
Yes essential. Light single-strand (20-40lb) or thin nylon-coated multi-strand works without putting fish off too much.
How to attach wire trace?
Single-strand: haywire twist (no crimps). Multi-strand: crimp with appropriate sleeves. We stock tools and sleeves and can demonstrate.
