Do I need an electric reel for Perth fishing?
If you regularly fish beyond 100m — deep dropping for pearl perch, ruby snapper, or bar cod — an electric reel makes a massive difference to endurance. For standard demersal fishing in 30-80m, a manual overhead is fine.
What battery do I need?
Most electric reels run on 12V lithium or lead-acid batteries. Lithium are lighter and last longer — a quality 10-15Ah lithium typically lasts a full day. We stock compatible batteries.
Can I still fight fish manually?
Absolutely. Electric reels crank manually like standard overheads. Most anglers use the motor for retrieval and let-down, then switch to manual when fighting fish.
