What fly box do I need?

Slim waterproof boxes with foam inserts for most flies. Larger compartment boxes for streamers and saltwater patterns. C+F makes exceptional Japanese-quality fly boxes.

Sling pack vs chest pack for fly fishing?

Sling packs swing to front for easy access while wading. Chest packs keep everything in front but can interfere with casting. Both work — personal preference. Try them in-store.

How many fly boxes do I need?

Start with 2-3: one for dry flies, one for nymphs, one for streamers/saltwater. Expand as your collection grows. Many fly anglers have... quite a few boxes.

What bag for saltwater fly fishing?

A waterproof sling bag or hip pack with room for a few fly boxes, tippet, pliers, and leader. Keep it minimal — you'll be wading or walking. HPA and Simms make great waterproof options.
